Health for All Foundation and Burma Children Medical Fund (HFA-BCMF) are sister non-profit organisations established in 2006 in Mae Sot, Thailand. HFA-BCMF works to improve lives of vulnerable communities in Burma and Thailand by facilitating access to healthcare and human rights.Position: Volunteer Program Support OfficerPosition duration: 3 months minimum, preferably 3 – 6 months or longer.Position start date: May 2026 and onwardsPosition Overview: Health for All Foundation - Burma Children Medical Fund (HFA-BCMF) seeks an energetic and organised volunteer to work in a program support capacity. The primary purpose of this position is to support local staff to document patient interviews and support capacity building activities for staff.Key duties (60%):* Conducting pre- and post-operative interviews with patients through an interpreter * Documenting said patient interviews * Assisting with editing patient interviews conducted by local staff and internsOther duties (40%):* Supporting local staff with daily activities, projects and reports * Proofing and editing English language documents and social media posts * Preparing content for social media * Developing materials and activities to support improvements in English language (particularly written English) for local staff and interns * Capacity building activities including in-service/training/workshops on topics such as health, English writing, operational skills, human rights, etc. * Compilation of statistics * Report writing * Photography and videography * Support preparing project reports/proposals to HFA-BCMF donors * Research and prepare proposals for new donors * Assisting with other projects as neededEssential Skills:* Native English or advanced English proficiency * Strong writing skills * Attention to detail * Organised and energetic, with a desire to work alongside and support local staff and interns * Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) * Ability to use initiative and be pro-active * Ability to work independently with limited supervision * Ability to cope with cultural isolation and a different standard of living and work environment * Preparedness to work with limited resources within a challenging environment * Commitment to team work, coaching, and mentoring others * Awareness and sensitivity of cross-cultural settings * Patience, tolerance and flexibilityDesirable skills:* Volunteer or work experience in the non-profit sector * Interest in human rights, international politics, migrant and refugee issues etc. * Experience working with migrants, as well as displaced, remote and vulnerable people * Experience working in a resource limited environment * Experience working in a health setting * Experience providing English language support * Interest in, and ability to work with web-based communications and social media * Experience in communicationsHFA-BCMF has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of child abuse. Volunteer will need to provide a working with children check and a police check or equivalent from their country of residence.HFA-BCMF staff, volunteers, and interns often interact with patients who are immunocompromised. Please note, volunteers will have to present a negative rapid COVID test on the morning of their start date at HFA-BCMF’s office.This is an unpaid position. HFA-BCMF is unable to support visa fees, COVID test fees, a living stipend, meals or housing.At HFA-BCMF we believe that long-term volunteering can make a real contribution to communities, providing the opportunity to build relationships and immerse oneself into the local life.
