Position Overview:The Platform for Peace and Humanity is currently seeking a volunteer Project Coordinator for a food security project to work under the Mediterranean Programme. Under the supervision of the Programme Director, the volunteer will engage in research and analysis on food security related-issues in the Mediterranean Region, outreach and engagement, and project coordination. The role combines analytical, operational and administrative tasks to support project development and implementation.This is a voluntary, unpaid role and is ideal for early to mid-career professionals in international law, social sciences, international relations, natural resources management and development studies with a strong interest in food security, human rights and food systems transformation. Applicants should take a keen interest in the vision and objectives of the Platform.Deadline to apply: 31 March 2026 Start date: ASAP Duration: minimum 12 months, including a one-month probationary period Location: Home office (remote) Time commitment: 5-10 h/week, flexible work hoursDuties and responsibilities:a) Research and Analysis:i. Design and conduct research, data collection and analysis on food security in the Mediterranean Region;ii. Monitor regional geopolitical developments and their impacts on food security, agri-food policies and human rights;iii. Contribute to various publications as mutually agreed with the Programme Director and other Platform staff.b) Outreach and Coordination:i. Initiate contact with relevant interlocutors in the Mediterranean Region, such as civil society organisations, universities, international organisations, experts, donors, etc. and identify funding opportunities and potential partnerships;ii. Collaborate closely with the Programme Director and other Platform staff towards the development of partnerships;iii. Coordinate the development and implementation of projects.Minimum requirements:* A solid understanding of the Mediterranean Region, including the socio-political context, human rights, environmental and food security issues; * Appropriate tertiary qualification(s) in natural resources management, international relations, law, human rights, development studies, social sciences, food security, sustainable agriculture or in a related field, with demonstrated experience in food security research and/or project coordination; * Project management skills including budget development; * Professional-level English; * Strong communication and inter-personal skills, and experience in building effective relationships in an international multicultural context; * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Teams) and Google Workspace; * Demonstrated passion and dedication to the mission and values of the Platform.Desirable qualifications:* Stakeholder engagement and resource mobilisation; * Experience in drafting policy-oriented content, high-quality strategic documents based on scientific sources in the context of food and agriculture and/or human rights; * Fluency in French or Arabic; * Existing networks in the Mediterranean Region.HOW TO APPLYApplicants should upload their CV and cover letter in English via our application portal (https://peacehumanity.org/join-us).Importantly, in your cover letter, please indicate your experience in the Mediterranean Region, and explain why your professional background and aspirations make you the perfect candidate for the role.
