ABOUT HABIBI.WORKSWe are currently looking for a general supporter, wood workshop supervisor, bike workshop supervisor and sewing atelier supervisor to join our team!Habibi.Works is a solidarity-based makerspace and community hub located next to the refugee camp of Katsikas in Northern Greece. It provides access to tools, knowledge, and shared spaces for people on the move, local residents, and international volunteers.Rooted in values of solidarity, mutual respect, and justice, the project fosters community, agency, and resilience in a context shaped by European migration policies.Requirements:* Commitment: minimum 6 weeks * Minimum age: 22 * Ability to live in the EU for duration of stay (we cannot support with visa processes)What we offer:* Shared accommodation * Meals on working days * Two weekend days (Sunday & Monday) * A meaningful role in a grassroots, solidarity-based project * Possibility to extend to a long term contract after 3 months depending on the roleROLE DESCRIPTIONSWood Workshop Supervisor:Our Wood Workshop Supervisor is responsible for ensuring participants have the opportunity to use the workshop independently, but also to gain and enhance their skills with woodwork and related tools. The Wood Workshop is a heavily used working area in Habibi.Works with both very skilled carpenters coming to use the space, as well as people who have no experience with wood yet.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Make sure people use the machines correctly. If you see someone misusing a machine, offer your help; this is about education and empowerment. Show someone how to use the tools correctly and then encourage them to use the tools correctly * Support people in realizing their ideas; guide people through the design and actual building process if needed. Provide guidance for self-guided projects as well as through organised, guided workshops * Ensure the Wood Workshop remains clean and tidy and tools are put back after use; engage participants in this! * Manage the distribution of material while adhering to our guidelines for material use per individual project * Make sure people wear the safety gear (gloves and glasses) and the maximum number of people that can be in the working area is not exceeded * Ensure participants are following Habibi.Works’ guideline of “making, not taking.” This means only finished projects can be taken home, not raw materials. * Make sure the workshop is closed and locked whenever you can’t be there to supervise. * Keep stock of the material. Communicate material needs to the relevant team member and support in acquiring new material * Keep an eye on tools and equipment. If something is broken, communicate this to the relevant team member and support in finding a solution.SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Organize tools and materials. Sort what is needed and not, and document if anything is missing * Plan and organize guided activities in the working area on a weekly basis * Documentation of the activities of every day in the working areaSKILLS REQUIRED:In order to be a wood workshop supervisor at Habibi.Works, you need to be able to safely use the following tools and machines:* power drills * shizzles * belt sander * band saw * chop saw * circular saw * planing machineBIKE WORKSHOP SUPERVISORResponsible for managing the Bikes Workshop, supporting independent use while enhancing skills in bicycle maintenance, repair, and safety. Participants range from beginners to skilled mechanics.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Ensure correct use of tools and equipment; provide guidance and education when needed. * Support participants in repairing, maintaining, or customizing bicycles. * Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop; engage participants in upkeep. * Ensure safety practices are followed and tools are stored properly.SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Monitor stock of bicycle parts and materials; communicate needs to the relevant team member. * Plan guided workshops or tutorials for community members. * Document workshop activities and progress.SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:* knowledge of bicycle mechanics and repair. * Familiarity with tools and workshop safety. * Ability to teach or guide beginners in practical skills.SEWING ATELIER SUPERVISOROur Sewing Atelier Supervisor is responsible for managing the sewing atelier so that people have the opportunity to use the workshop and sewing machines independently, but also to gain and enhance their skills with sewing machines, textiles and tailoring. The Sewing Workshop is a heavily used working area in Habibi.Works with both very skilled tailors coming to use the space, as well as people who have no experience with sewing machines yet.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Make sure people use the machines correctly. If you see someone misusing a machine, offer your help; it is about education and empowerment. Show someone how to use the tools correctly and then encourage them to use the machine correctly * Manage the material stock. Sort out material that is not needed and document if any material is missing. Communicate needs to the relevant team member and support in sourcing new materials * Manage the even distribution of materials and adhere to our guidelines on material use per individual project (2 metres per 3 weeks) * Support people in realizing their projects; guide people through the design and building process if needed * Ensure the space is clean and tidy / materials are put back after use. Engage participants in this! * Keep an eye on the machines and tools. If anything breaks, communicate this to the relevant team member to find a solution * Ensure participants adhere to Habibi.Works’ “making, not taking” policy i.e. only completed projects can be taken home, not raw/unworked materialSECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Manage the distribution of weekly appointments for the sewing atelier; there is a dedicated appointment distribution given the demand for new fabric * Documentation of the activities and creation of guides for various projectsSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE* Basic sewing skills, particularly pattern-making, clothing design and creation * Knowledge of maintenance and set up of sewing machines * (Desirable) Knowledge of embroidery, quilting and designingGeneral SupporterAs a General Supporter, you will play an important role in supporting the team with a variety of tasks, which can include:* Welcoming people at the reception desk and scheduling appointments in the working areas * Supporting in the free shop, providing essential items in a dignified and accessible way * Assisting with general support tasks * Participating in team meetings and daily operational tasksHOW TO APPLYPlease send your application via email to [email protected] with the subject line “[Position Title] April 2026” (i.e. "Wood Workshop Supervisor April 2026")Ideal start date:General Supporter: ASAPWood Workshop Supervisor: ASAPBike Workshop Supervisor: May 2026Sewing Atelier Supervisor: May 2026We are accepting applications on a rolling basis.
