Position Title: Gender Expert Consultant Engagement Type: On-Call, Assignment-Based Location: Remote and/or Field-Based (depending on assignment) Preferred Profiles: Experts with demonstrated professional experience or research work related to Syria, Iraq, or Europe, including strong contextual, cultural, or linguistic knowledge of these regions. We work with NGOs, INGOs, donors, and research bodies to deliver technically sound and context-sensitive assignments.BackgroundEktimisi is expanding its pool of Gender Experts to support a growing number of assignments across Syria, Iraq, Ukraine and other relevant contexts. We are seeking qualified consultants with solid humanitarian experience and strong technical capacity in gender equality, women’s empowerment, GBV, and gender mainstreaming. This is a short-term, assignment-based consultancy and does not constitute full-time employment.Key Responsibilities / Deliverables* Conduct gender analysis relevant to humanitarian, recovery, and development assignments. * Develop and review gender-sensitive and gender-responsive methodologies for assessments, evaluations, research, third-party monitoring, and capacity-building assignments. * Design and refine gender data collection tools, including surveys, KIIs, FGDs, observation checklists, and other qualitative and quantitative instruments. * Develop gender analysis frameworks, indicator matrices, and analytical approaches for sectoral and multi-sectoral assignments. * Draft technical inputs related to gender equality, women’s empowerment, GBV, protection mainstreaming, inclusion, participation, and safeguarding. * Produce gender action plans, gender analyses, technical briefs, and other assignment-specific gender deliverables. * Review findings, reports, and recommendations to ensure sound gender analysis, practical relevance, and context-sensitive interpretation. * Provide technical guidance to analysts, field teams, and project staff on gender-sensitive and safe data collection practices. * Design and deliver training, orientation, or capacity-building sessions on gender concepts, gender mainstreaming, and ethical field engagement when required. * Participate in technical meetings with Ektimisi, clients, and partners to provide thematic guidance and respond to sector-specific questions. * Uphold ethical standards, confidentiality, safeguarding principles, and data protection requirements across all inputs.Minimum Qualifications* Minimum 4 years of professional experience in gender-related work in the humanitarian field. * Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: gender equality, women’s empowerment, GBV, protection mainstreaming, gender analysis, or inclusion-focused programming. * Proven ability to develop gender data collection tools, gender action plans, analytical frameworks, and technical gender deliverables. * Previous experience contributing to assessments, evaluations, research, third-party monitoring, or capacity-building assignments. * Fluency in English with strong writing and editing skills. * (Highly Desirable) Strong command of Arabic, spoken and written. * Relevant university degree in gender studies, social sciences, development studies, international relations, sociology, psychology, law, or another related field. * Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines under assignment-based consultancy arrangements.Preferred Qualifications* Based in, originally from, or with strong professional experience in Syria, Iraq, or Europe. * Previous experience with consultancies, INGOs, UN agencies, donors, or research firms. * Familiarity with humanitarian standards and approaches related to safeguarding, Do No Harm, ethical data collection, and confidentiality. * Experience integrating gender across sectors such as protection, livelihoods, MHPSS, governance, social cohesion, or economic empowerment. * Experience facilitating training or mentoring teams on gender-sensitive approaches.Working ArrangementEngagements are short-term and assignment-based. Selected experts may be contacted for specific opportunities depending on technical relevance, availability, and assignment requirements.
