Terms of Reference Purchase of services (Trainer)Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM) is an independent non-governmental, non-profit organization. We seek to build a society that guarantees freedom of expression and belief, human rights, and justice. Our vision is a democratic world based on justice, freedom, equality, and respect for human rights and dignity.Within the framework of its Media and Freedoms Program, SCM seeks to strengthen the professional resilience of women journalists working in complex and often precarious environments. As part of this effort, SCM plans to conduct a training entitled:“Labour Rights for Women Journalists”Therefore, SCM is seeking a trainer to design and deliver a virtual (online) training for 15 female journalists in accordance with the attached Terms of Reference.The training aims to enhance participants’ understanding of labour rights, employment modalities, and protection mechanisms in media workplaces.Terms of Reference Purchase of services (Trainer)1.Training Title:“Labour Rights for Women Journalists “2.General ObjectiveTo strengthen the capacities of women journalists in understanding, claiming, and protecting their labour rights within formal and informal media work environments.3.The Detailed Objectives:1. To introduce the fundamental principles of labour rights applicable to journalists. 2. To clarify employment modalities in media work (full/part-time, freelance, short-term contracts, formal/informal arrangements) and their legal implications. 3. To explain key labour rights including contracts, wages, working hours, leave entitlements, social protection, and termination procedures. 4. To raise awareness of workplace violations commonly affecting women journalists. 5. To equip participants with practical tools to document labour violations and seek remedies safely. 6. To identify available complaint mechanisms and support structures within media institutions and civil society. 7. To strengthen negotiation skills in professional settings.4.Target Group1. Women journalists from various types of media (visual, audio, written, and digital) 2. From Syria and neighboring countries. 3. Priority will be given to participants who have experienced labour rights violations, unsafe working conditions, or discriminatory treatment in media workplaces5.Qualifications and skills required1. At least a university degree in a relevant field (preferably law, human rights, or gender studies).2. At least three years of experience in labour rights, women’s rights, or media law.3. Extensive knowledge of the working context of Syrian women journalists and regional contexts.4. Proven experience in delivering interactive training courses for journalists or civil society activists.5. Ability to translate legal frameworks into practical, context-sensitive guidelines.6.
